How we source and check
The rules every page on this site follows.
Sources first
- Every regulated value, price, statistic and date is cited to its source, footnoted where it appears.
- We prefer primary sources: legislation, regulators, statistical agencies, ministries, municipalities and one-call centres.
- Typical or planning values (swell factors, densities) are labelled as typical and sourced.
- Where no official figure exists we say so. We do not publish invented price ranges.
Prices
Unit prices come mainly from Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors’ Unit Price Averages, the average of the three lowest bids on provincial highway contracts. They are benchmarks at highway quantities, not quotes, and pages say so wherever they are used.
Rules and law
Safety, legal and engineering summaries are general information, not advice. They are checked against the current consolidated text on the date shown. Read the regulation, and get professional advice for a specific job or contract.
Independence
No contractor or supplier pays for placement or mention. Links to associations, portals and agencies are there because readers need them.
Data
The tender snapshot uses CanadaBuys open data under the Open Government Licence – Canada and publishes notice-level fields only, never procurement officers’ personal contact details. Infrastructure data are from Statistics Canada.
